Junior Beta Convention 2012

http://my.hsj.org/schools/newspaper/tabid/100/view/frontpage/schoolid/3859/articleid/508951/junior_beta_convention_2012.aspx

By Sara Davis

On Wednesday, February 22, twenty Junior Beta students from South Warren High School arrived in Louisville, Kentucky for the annual Junior Beta Convention. Junior Beta is a club for students who have a GPA higher than 3.25 and are willing to do volunteer work to help out within the community. Students were able to compete in many different academic and artistic subjects such as spelling, jewelry making, cross-stitch, essay writing, poetry, t-shirt design, and more. Katherine Gray won second place for her design in cross stitch. Mrs. Haas and Mrs. Gage were the chaperones on this trip. They are also the sponsors of the South Warren High School Junior Beta Club. “This was one of the most well-behaved groups we’ve ever had,” Mrs. Gage commented. “They didn’t even talk when they had the chance to.” Some students would disagree with Mrs. Gage’s statement. “Most of the people on the trip were up until past midnight hanging out in my room,” Says Braxton Hill. “We got into a Reese’s Pieces fight and quickly cleaned the mess up when we heard Mrs. Haas coming.” Overall, the students said they had a great time and couldn’t wait for next year’ s convention.
