St. Paul's Place Uniform Store Makes Changes

By Jacklyn Anderson

Jacklyn Anderson
The new extension to Juan Diego Catholic High School's clothing store, St. Paul's Place

The expansion of Juan Diego’s clothing store, St. Paul’s Place, is now complete and new managers have made more changes they hope will please customers -- including longer hours of operation. As one of the improvements, the store will now be open 32 hours a week, instead of just ten. The store currently sells uniforms to six schools: St. Andrew, St. Vincent, Blessed Sacrament, St. John the Baptist Elementary, St. John the Baptist Middle School, and Juan Diego Catholic High School. By next fall, manager Lori Billings expects eight or more schools to join our system, like St. Francis Xavier, St. Olaf, and St. Margaret. “People would benefit from this because any uniforms they buy through the school store have no tax,” Billings said. “The schools earn a percentage back every June. They’ll get revenue off uniforms they sold.” St. Paul’s Place recently changed uniform suppliers, which means the fabric of the uniforms will be different. This comes as good news to many students who are not fans of the current uniform styles. The high school girls’ pants will be more fitting and have a little bit of a stretch with a back pocket. For the elementary students, shirts will have a same-color logo. Another addition will be that next year non-pleated pants will be offered for little boys, not the pleated pants. The waistbands of both girls' and boys' pants will be adjustable. The store is now selling spirit wear for all the schools in the system. Team and club orders from now on are always handled though the store. A special addition to the new store is clearance sales. There is a sale rack located in the store, consisting of remaining sizes of clothing and anything Billings wishes to put on sale. She said at times she will put things on sale that have not been selling. Special sales will also be made for special occasions; for example, Billings plans on doing weekly specials for spring. The new additions to St. Paul’s Place will make it easier for students and parents who may live closer to Juan Diego than the actual school they’re attending.
