Shields for certification. Afterward, teacher Natasha Garcia read the 148 class names alphabetically for the members to receive diplomas from the attending school board of trustees members and shake hands with Sexton and Shields before closing remarks by Sexton and the school song, accompanied by Shamburger before his recessional and a congratulatory line of faculty and staff members on the way outside for the usual round of family/friend photos and some final fun with classmates before the Modocs scattered to their respective futures. The class motto was “We’re the best that’s ever been; we’re the class of 2010,” while the class flower was the red rose and class color blue. “There’s no thrill in easy sailing when the skies are clear and blue; there’s no joy in merely doing things which anyone can do.
