A New School Interview with Shannon

By Kate H.

Shannon was born in Fairfax. She is single. Her hobbies are playing the piano and doing arts and crafts. Her favorite place in the whole wide world is Panama City, Panama because she went to school there. Her experience so far at the New School has been pleasant. She was teaching at a public school but wanted to teach in a more student-focused school environment. She responded to an ad placed by John Potter and was impressed by the philosophy she found at the New School. No one in particular inspired her to pursue her teaching career; she developed an interest in teaching on her own. Her favorite subject in school was computers. All of her high school years were good. Her high school years were exciting as they shaped her into the person she is today. She went to school overseas and the experience helped her to mature into a very worldly person. Her advice for teenagers who want to teachers is to always continue to learn. Here are my observations of Shannon’s teaching methods: Shannon is very kind to her students, she makes class fun but still educational. The classroom environment is very low- key and calm. She is a very down to earth person which makes the kids like her but she is not a pushover. Shannon seems to be a wonderful teacher!
