By LAUREL CZAJKOWSKI

Junior Mike Ryan stumbles during the Bat Spin game of Homecoming Week.

Last Monday kicked off the 2007 homecoming spirit week at Quince Orchard High School, as students and staff members worked vigorously for months to make the dance held on October 6 as successful and enjoyable as possible. Each class contributed as they decorated their corners and floats of select classic cartoons. The senior class took on the Flinstones, highlighting the town of Bedrock, while the juniors showcased the classic characters from Looney Tunes. The sophomores had Scooby-Doo and the freshman class did the Smurfs. After coming in fourth place last year, the junior class was determined to do well this year, and they did just that. The juniors were able to beat out the seniors, as well as the sophomores and the freshman, by getting the highest overall score after winning the corners and float competitions. They did this through teamwork. “This year I think all the classes came together and like everyone started to get along and like everyone really worked as a team so that was a lot of fun to watch,” said Julie Starnes, the junior class president. The juniors also put in a substantial amount of time. “We officially started the second week of July,” added Starnes, and is guessing that the class put in at least 100 hours of work. It is agreed, though, that there are going to be some changes to next years’ homecoming. “Next year we are going to update the rules and regulation policies to make them even clearer,”states SGA sponsor and English teacher,Scott Tarzwell. He thinks one of the biggest issues was organization due to, “a lot of new things this year including different games, different tactics with corners and it seems we had to stay on top of that.”
