That sure is not true for the boys swim and dive team; who following right on the tails of the ever successful 2011 Girls swim team, are looking to one-up their female counterparts. With their first competition approaching quickly on Dec. 3 against Conant, the boys look to avenge their season opening loss last year to, guess who, Conant. The battle this season is not only in the pool, it’s also for the pool. Rumors have been flying about College of Dupage losing the pool which would mean LP would lose their swim and dive teams. The swim teams are having a fundraiser to keep their pool, throughout the lunches swimmers are asking for just a $1 donation to keep their heads, in this case, under the water. The wrestling team is back for another season of power, winning, and another championship. The varsity team were conference champions and IHSA Regional Champions. The Lancer team was also an IHSA Sectional runner up. The varsity team record last year was 20-10. This season has started off well with nine returning Varsity letter winners, and two returning state qualifiers, Blake Santi and Farai Sewara. “This year’s team has made a strong commitment towards getting better,” said Coach Todd Raymond in an email, “They have trained hard in the off season lifting weights and wrestling. Two weeks ago, 13 wrestlers traveled to Cedar Falls, IA to compete in the Preseason Nationals Tournament. Our wrestlers had the opportunity to compete against the best in the country. Austin Schoen 126 lbs and Farai Sewera 160 lbs both took 2 nd place in their weight class and Blake Santi and Matt Adcock both went 7-2 just falling short of placing” Suited up and ready to dominate the division, the wrestling squad has a tight lock on all they face, with fresh wrestlers ready to step up, like Sophomore Lucas Bracher 120 lbs, Junior William Tresch 220 lbs, and Freshman Nick Liebich 106 lbs, this year’s squad will be ready for any challenges.
