By Jordi Love

THERE ARE SPOILERS... Breaking Dawn is the fourth and final installment in the Twilight series. It was so highly anticipated that site owner’s shut their sites down in fear of spoilers. People were in heavy debate on the final book. This was so true that Stephenie Meyer even wrote a parody book ‘Breaking Down.’. Many people expected this book to be as spectacular as the others, but most people were sadly disappointed. The week before Breaking Dawn was released a very common thing happened: The book was released accidentally to a select few individuals. It happens with most any book, but for fans of Twilight this was a both exciting and horrible event. With the spoilers from Breaking Dawn presented everything came to light: The impossible boundary Stephenie Meyer herself set suddenly became a crossable line. The main character, Bella, becomes pregnant. Most people were unhappy that Bella gave up her future for a baby and a husband, but that’s not my issue. I have always believed a woman has the right to do with her life whatever she wants. So when Bella did what three books led us into believing I was not stunned. I was truly disappointed that Meyer gave Bella a baby when she stated she could not have one, however. There is no justice in Bella having a baby. Rosalie and Alice want a baby and it’s implied their relationships are less filling because they cannot have one. Yet Bella can just have a baby and everyone’s cool? What happened to Meyer’s very real portrayal of humanity in vampires? Why is Rosalie crazed about Bella having her baby when it’s she who should rightfully be having the baby? The honest truth is these are simple things I can easily overlook. While I do not like the portrayal of barren and unhappy women who get no justice I will say it’s not my problem. I could live with Renesmee, Bella and Edward’s daughter. In fact, I like Renesmee. I like Renesmee so much that when she had every future possible stripped from her I was outraged. Jacob Black imprints on Renesmee, which means he falls completely in love with her – they’re soulmates, etc., and strips her of any freedom she’d ever have. That the characters even eventually come to understand this OUTRAGES me. Renesmee is a little girl. Meyer was so intent on giving every fan a happy ending she stripped the child that could not be of any freewill. Bella got to fall in love with Edward. Jasper, Alice, and all the others got to fall in love. Renesmee has no real choices. Not only does the little girl never get to have a crush or fall in love with anyone on her own, but she doesn’t get to choose being human or not. The horrible emphasis of the entire book Eclipse is that no one got a choice. We, the readers, are supposed to enjoy that a newborn infant has her entire future planned out for her. This beautiful love story went from endearing and happy to completely trite. In Breaking Dawn no one has justice. Rosalie can never have a baby of her own. Renesmee never gets to love who she wants to or experience even an amount of human life. Jacob has to love something he hates. Everyone loses something but it’s okay because the powerful messages we’ve learned are nothing compared to a happy ending. I am not against a happy ending. More than anything I wanted a happy anything for Edward and Bella in Breaking Dawn. But a happy ending does not mean that there is no justice, no true love all around, there is not any real confrontation, and this book was overall a complete cop out. What could have been a masterpiece was destroyed so that every fan would be pleased. While many fans excuse the fantasy because it's a fantasy, I cannot excuse it. After all with such masterpieces like Harry Potter to live up to, how can Stephenie Meyer use fantasy as an excuse? So to Stephenie Meyer I ask that she please release Breaking Down, maybe the satire book will come out better.
