This article is definitely for you. As many of us know, money is getting harder and harder to come by, and as a result we are having to work harder, longer, and more hours to make up for it. In some cases, students have to take a year off of school in order to save up enough money for college. Well, not anymore. What many people don't know is that there are many different scholarships and obtaining a scholarship is as easy as sounding a duck call or making a bowtie out of duct tape. Here are ten different scholarships that you can apply for and, if you win, practically get paid for having fun! 1. Horatio Alger Association Scholarship - The only requirements are you have to be able to drive to college and keep a minimum grade point average of 2.0. ( https://www.horatioalger.org/scholarships/index.cfm ) 2. Discover Card Tribute Award - The Discover Card Tribute scholarship awards ten $25,000 and 300 $2,500 scholarships annually. All you need to do is have a GPA of 2.75, show leadership within your community and have "faced a significant roadblock or challenge." Angel Soft hands out scholarships to kids under 18 who show that they help in their community or a charity. Winners win a year’s supply of toilet paper and a cash prize. ( http://www.angelsoft.com/ ) 4. National Peace Essay Contest -The United States Institute of Peace offers this scholarship and the chance to spend a week in Washington. David Letterman Telecommunications Scholarship - At Ball State University for telecommunication students, each student can submit any number of different media for their project, but the more creative the better your chance of winning a scholarship. Americanism Essay Contest - Sponsored by the FRA (Fleet Reserve Association). This organization is made up of the former members of the Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps. Calgon Take Me Away to College Contest - Giving away almost $8,000 in awards, Calgon (who produces various bath and body products) allows students the ability to grab some cash by answering two short essay style questions. Environmental Essay Contest - Hosted by aBetterEarth.org, the essay contest will land you $2,000 for the grand prize. The contest theme this year deals with the "unintended consequences of government driven bio-fuels" and poses the question if the government is or should be responsible for the adoption of these fuels. Holocaust Remembrance Project Essay Contest - This essay is for students in high school who promote the continued study of the Holocaust.
