By Kelsie Sorenson

The varsity boys have been coasting past every opponent they’ve come upon. Before Tuesday’s game against the Great Bend Panthers, the Bullpups defeated teams on an average of 23 points a game. But, in Tuesday’s game against the Panthers there wasn’t much coasting involved. The pups were neck-and-neck the entire game until the buzzer sounded at the end of the fourth quater. The pups were up by 6, with five seconds left in the game, when a Great Bend player shot a three and made it, leaving the Bullpups to win by three. The Varsity boys basketball team is now 5-0 on the season. Senior Kolin Walk recently led the Bullpups to a victory against Newton last friday, making five threes in the first half. Coach Kurt Kinnamon told KBBE radio that he feels his team could handle pressure better than they did on Tuesday night. The Bullpups were 27-44 from the line on Tuesday, just barely over 60 percent. Aaron Frazier had another outstanding game, with 27 points, and Tanner Hawkinson followed with 20. The Pups had to look inside to score more than any game this year. Only two 3-pointers the entire game for MHS, Great Bend with seven threes. Luckily stats are merely a number, and all-in-all the Pups came out with a win. The boys will be taking on Campus Friday at 7:30, at home in the roundhouse for a makeup game.
