By Lindsey Roesti

Girl likes boy. Boy likes girl. Boy and girl fall in love. Boy and girl fight. Boy and girl make up. Boy and girl live happily ever after. This is the summary of a typical romance novel. And though teenage girls are crazy for these types of books, author Stephenie Meyer has recently upped the stakes for the traditional “love story.” Her story goes a little more like this: Girl meets boy. Boy is beautiful. Boy is dazzling. Boy is flawless. Boy sparkles in sunlight. Girl’s life is endangered. Boy saves girl. Boy and girl fall in love. Girl’s life is extremely endangered. Boy saves girl…again. Oh yeah, did I mention the boy is a bloodsucking vampire? Yes, that’s right. He is a vampire, and his name is Edward Cullen. Here are a few of my personal thoughts about Edward. Edward Cullen is the sexiest boy alive (Oh wait, he’s not alive. Make that the sexiest boy dead). Edward Cullen is more beautiful than the hottest movie star you’ll ever see. Edward Cullen replaced Romeo. Edward Cullen is stronger and faster than Clark Kent. Remember when I said he sparkles in the sunlight? I wasn’t kidding. Edward Cullen’s porcelain white skin literally sparkles in the sunlight. And sadly, Edward Cullen is taken. Twilight is the traditional romance novel with a twist, a HUGE twist. It’s not everyday that a normal 11th grade girl moves to a small, rainy town and just happens to fall in love with the only guy there who isn’t immediately in love with her. In fact, the reason Edward is not immediately drawn to her is because he is extremely attracted to the scent of her blood. Oh trust me, he is very drawn to her (or her blood), but in order to not kill her he tries to avoid her the best he can. As Edward attempts to avoid Bella, she becomes obsessed with finding out why he is so different. When an incident brings them together she finally finds out the truth behind the beautiful pale boy. He is a vampire. Though that may scare away lots of girls (haha), it does not scare away Bella. So now Bella finds herself in an interesting predicament. Her new boyfriend is a bloodsucking vampire, who without consistent self control could kill her in the blink of an eye. Another sticky situation is that she can’t tell anybody his secret, including Charlie, her father. As the two fall in love Edward gets better with his self control. He realizes his love for Bella overcomes his attraction to her blood. Near the end of the book, a big situation happens that takes Bella back to her hometown, Phoenix, Arizona in fear for her life. You see, she encounters another troupe of vampires and...well I can’t just tell you the end of the story. You’ll have to read the book to find out. ;) So as you can see, I am truly in love with this amazing story. OK, so I’m mainly in love with Edward because he is the perfect boyfriend. And every girl who has read these books can vouch for me on that! I mean who wouldn’t want a boyfriend who could kill her at any second, but loves her enough not to kill her. Wow. It can’t get any better than that! Now I’m sure everybody is thinking that this book is very demonic because of the whole vampire thing. You couldn’t be more wrong. The Twilight Series is anything but. Don’t worry Edward is a “good vampire.” I have not found anything wrong with this book series. I love them. They are thick books but once you get started, I promise, you will not be able to stop. I strongly suggest to anyone who is looking for a good series to read Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse. You will not be disappointed.
