Principal Lippert links laughing, learning

WHS is going to become a more joyous, spirited campus with Carol Lippert leading the way. Lippert, the new principal of Washington High School is excited to be here. She said she loves the “welcoming environment.” Immediately after arriving on campus, Lippert said she experienced WHS’s friendly campus. She commends students, teachers and staff for being helpful by being courteous and introducing themselves. Lippert grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Arizona to escape the cold. She attended the University of Arizona in Tucson and began her career in education. Teaching various science courses at different Arizona schools propelled her career. Lippert’s favorites include the Life Sciences and Biology. After spending time as a teacher, Lippert was able to become Assistant Principal of Student Services at Moon Valley High School in the GUHSD. Now that she is at WHS, Lippert is helping the whole school charge towards new heights. This new motto, created by Lippert, will be the theme for our school to increase school spirit and to increase academic rigor. Throughout the year, Lippert hopes to become a visible presence on campus. She also wants to be approachable to both faculty and students. Lippert is looking to make some changes to WHS and began formulating ideas to raise school spirit and pride with STUGO officers. She has already begun this process by a spirit-enhancing activity before the start of school. Together, they hope to raise attendance at dances and sporting events. Another plan that she looks forward to is a Student Advisory Committee. In previous years, there has been a committee, yet participation was limited, and the students were unable to create a lasting impact. With Lippert’s vision, any student who wants to have a voice will be able to participate. The students will impact the campus and share opinions about campus issues. The school is going to become “more visible in the community,” according to Lippert, who hopes to install an electronic marquee to make it easier for people to identify that the WHS campus is a high school. Lippert’s optimism for the future of WHS will impact lasting changes.
