By Katelyn Beahm and Alina Gallart

The closest hiking trail proves itself to be hidden because although many people don’t know about it, it is right near certain main roads. This secret haven, the Great Seneca Creek Trail, is located on the corner of Brink Road and Goshen Road. This trail is exciting to hike, run or even bike on, and if provides a great opportunity to fish.
"It’s really close to home. I went with friends and we took a hike. It was a great thing to do instead of sitting at home," junior Katherine O’ Toole says.
Other more popular hiking sites are Sugarloaf Mountain and Great Falls. If you’re looking for more of a scenic place to go, Great Falls is the trail to go to. At Great Falls, the two greatest attractions are the Billy Goat Trail, which includes a rock climbing adventure and an extravagant view of the Potomac River and of course, one of the most famous water falls, making it a great location for a romantic date. "I love going to Great Falls with my boyfriend. It’s a really romantic spot to get to know someone and enjoy nature," senior Kelli Coughlan says.
If that doesn’t suit you, take the easier hike at Sugarloaf Mountain. Sugarloaf includes man-made stairs that make the trail equivalent to a stairway to heaven for those who aren’t ready for the vigorous hike through the woods. Those that are more experienced can throw themselves into a challenge and conquer the mountain by making their own way up via their own path.
Hiking provides for not only a physical effect but also a spiritual one. It has been confirmed that hiking relieves stress and relaxes even the most uptight person. So, next time you’re glued to the couch with not a thing to do when the sun is shining and the birds are singing, go for a hike.
