By Marty Davis

Matthew Sokoloski
With the opening of the refurbished Cinema Center, the vibrant colors give viewers a jaw-dropping experience of the new lobby, although ticket prices for regular movies increased only a few dollars.

From January to March, students have been waiting for their local source of silver-screen entertainment to reopen. Unsure of what to expect, I went to see Alice in Wonderland with friends the second week of Cinema Center’s reopening. Walking in, I was overwhelmed by the dizzying array of colors, flamboyant decor and also the $11.25 ticket. Concession prices were slightly inflated, and I just hoped the refurbished theater was worth the cost. The building was half-finished, understandably, and I walked to the room where my movie was showing. The tiered, stadium-style seating was a great improvement, and it was indeed comfortable. I had to make a few minor adjustments in the seat, but the 3D effects were impressive. The flashy look and cushy seats hardly offset the ticket price, but the new Cinema Center does bring excitement to the viewing experience.
