                    Autism is a brain disorder that affects people’s communication skills and social life. Signs start around the age of three. Autism takes control of genetics and creates mutations that destroy the brains every day functions.                 One in every one hundred and fifty children are diagnosed with autism. Autism, or ASD, involves special care. Most autistic children grow up and still need care. They live with people that are capable of helping them and they are rarely independent. The characteristics that they carry are a dull version of a normal person’s being. An autistic child can be quiet, unable to communicate, mentally disabled, have narrow interests, and be severely limited or repetitive.                 Females are less likely to be autistic. In fact, males are four times more likely to be autistic than females. One in every ninety four boys becomes autistic. Scientists are not sure exactly what causes autism. There are many possibilities, but none are certain. Beginning at birth, their brain may lack neurotransmitters or serotonin. Parents may have led the baby to the cause of their disorder. Both genes may play a part in the autistic offspring, along with the environment.                 Although autism doesn’t seem bad, it is. The people who are autistic struggle with many things. Some children are able to overcome autism and live a normal life, but not many. Autism has the highest annual growth, ranging from 10-17%. As it becomes more common, scientists are trying to fine breaks to medications and the causes. The worst part is autism only receives 5% of the research funding.                 The earlier the patient starts to be treated, the less they will be affected. There is not a cure for autism. There are not any medications that can assist with autism. They have the same life span as a normal human. Every country has autistic children. More children will be diagnosed with autism then cancer, Down syndrome, AIDS, and diabetes combined.                 Many famous people are autistic and have overcome their struggles. These famous people include Albert Einstein, Issac Newton, Mozart, Thomas Edison, Beethoven, Mark Twain, and Bill Gates. For famous people, who make money, it is easier to cover the cost of an autism life time. However, for an everyday American, it’s a struggle. The lifetime medical attention for an autistic human is 3 million dollars to 5 million dollars.                 Autism is not a disease; it is a collection of brain dysfunctions. Organizations are forming to help the cause. Many parents start organizations, because they feel for their children. The community needs to put more into this disorder.
