It’s time to get ready for prom night

By Tanya Salas, Nereyda Serrano

That time of the year where every girl gets chaotic planning, shopping, and primping is near. If you don’t know what we’re talking about then you must live on Mars. We’re talking about prom!
Prom is a day when you look and feel beautiful, it’s also a day where you dance all night and take hundreds of pictures that will last a lifetime. That’s where we come in; we’re going to help you pick out a dress that compliments your body and skin color.
First of all, let’s talk about which colors compliment your skin tone the best. Dark-skinned girls should avoid pastels and browns. Try oranges, fuchsia, purple, red, white, and gold.
Ladies with fair skin should avoid wearing white, pastels, or gold since the colors are so close to their skin tone. Try navy, red, black, purple, magenta, or blue green.
Medium skin tones should avoid caramel. Instead try orange, brown, yellow, yellow-green and other earthy tones.
Picking out a color is easy, but picking out what dress suits your body type the best is the tough part.
If you’re petite and want to seem taller and curvier, try a shorter dress that reaches just above your knee caps. Halter dress with seeming underneath the bust will create the illusion of great curves. A pair of heels also gives the illusion of longer legs.
What if your body’s “pear-shaped”? Using an ‘a-line’ dress (a type of dress that resembles an “a”) that reaches the knee caps will balance out that booty.
Now here’s a body that every girl would kill for, the “hourglass” figure. Corset dresses and empire waist will show off the great curves you already have.
For all the “apple shaped” women out there, empire waist dresses will keep the eye on the smallest part of your body.
