By Christopher Rogers & Amanda Heckaman

For those of you who do not know what anime is, it is a Japanese show. It details the Japanese culture through animation, graphics, stories and descriptions of the characters. Anime is rated higher in graphics compared to erican cartoons in graphics. The artistic ability displayed is astounding to the members. Anime Club meets every Wednesday at the Stark County Library at 4:00 p.m. It currently has about 10-15 members of all ages. The majority of the members are Timken High School students. During the meetings, the members watch movies and discuss 'cosplays', which is when people dress up exactly like an anime character. A few of the members can speak and read Japanese. The founder, Linda Miday, began to love anime as a young girl. It all began with Speedracer. As she got older and began working with elementary students at a local elementary school, she started her first anime club. After she moved, the Stark County Library Anime Club was started. Miday's love for anime moves a lot of students to express there love for it. Miday's assistant, Sarah Cox, is a Timken student. Sarah helps set up and run fundraisers to earn money to go to conventions or to buy clothes. She will set dates for cosplays which will be held at the library after hours. Also, she will be responsible for food and drinks for the members. The is Anime Club open to all Canton City School students. The meetings last until the movie of the evening ends or the discussion ends - whichever comes first. The members hope to see some new faces at the next meeting!
