By Karina

Over Labor Day weekend, coaches’, students’, athletes, and parents volunteered to work at American Auctions Auburn Car Auction. Every sport had volunteers working to raise money for their team. The band also had a booth to raise money and the show choir parked cars. Many volunteers helped make this weekend a success for Garrett High School. “It was a great experience raising money for our school,” said Brooke Wilhelm who plays on the GHS softball team. “It was fun taking a break and looking at the cars” said Adam Moore who is in the marching band. “I liked to hear all the compliments we were getting for volunteering,” said Ty Debes who is also on the GHS marching band. “It was cool watching peoples faces light up when they saw all the cars and volunteers,” said Tyler Meyers of the GHS football team. “It was cool to hang with the teams,” said Michael Moore of the GHS football team. “It was a fun way to spend my weekend,” said Caitlan of GHS marching band. Some of the parents also said nice things. “It was a great experience for the athletes,” said Vicki Fiandt. “I loved selling and eating the breakfast sandwiches that the band was selling to raise money. It was better than McDonald’s, but the most important thing was raising money for the band,” said Rick Moore. “It was a great weekend for the band and all extracurricular activities of GHS,” said Marie Moore. “I had a great time seeing everyone work together and do a great job for GHS,” said Todd Fiandt. From the beginning to the end of Labor Day weekend, everyone had a great attitude and smile on before, during, and after working at the auction. This year the auction was a success and everyone put in a lot of effort.
