By Becky H.

Plano High School has two new teachers added to the science department. Mrs. Franks received her undergraduate degree at Northwestern and then her Masters at UIC. She majored in Genetics, Muscular Biology, and mastered in Forensic Science.” Mrs. Frank reflected upon her high school years and said,” My favorite grade in school was my sophomore year, I went to Polaris and students were able to opt out of class and when I did I could go to McDonalds across the street.” She was not only a student, but an athlete as well. “In high school I played basketball, cross country, and track. I went to state for the 4x800 and the 800.” In college she only participated in cross-country. Here at Plano High School she teaches Biology, Anatomy and Physiology. Before coming to Plano she taught at Lake Forest, Thornwood, and Glen Brook South. The next new teacher in Plano’s Science Department is Ms.Tabler. She attended Illinois State University in Bloomington Normal, majoring in chemistry education. At Plano, she teaches Intro to Physics, Physics, and Physical Science part two.” Ms. Tabler went to Morris Common High School. Before coming to Plano, she taught at Sylvan Learning Center and Plainfield South Middle School. “In high school I played soccer, golf, swimming and diving, dance, and cheerleading.” Ms.Tabler’s favorite subject in school was Chemistry and Physics, but she really did not like Biology or Algebra II. “I didn’t care for Algebra II because I did not like any of the people in the class with me and there was a lot of group work.” Her favorite sports teams are the Cubs, Bears, and Notre Dame. An inspirational quote to live by from Ms. Tabler, “Live life to its fullest, you never know when it is going to end, and if you can’t laugh through life, it’s not a life worth living.”
