How Safe is Safe??: Are Schools Becoming Less Safe Everyday?

By Jennifer Hibberd

Throughout the years, parents and students alike have trusted schools to be a safe place. However, is that trust being broken by events and crimes that are committed daily? It is a common event; students head off to school, and their parents don’t think twice about it. No one ever suspects that anything bad can happen to their child while they are off getting an education. But lately that sense of safety has been fading. Parents and students shouldn’t be worried about schools. School campuses are becoming safer everyday. There are many security guards and police officers patrolling school grounds. Students are not allowed to leave campuses unless they are seniors who get out early or their parents pick them up. There are tons of strict rules that that school follows with all students, no matter who they are. Our campus does everything that it can to protect our students from any type of harm. Our administrators give and do all they can everyday. Students should come to school ready to learn, have fun and hang out with their friends. Desert Edge is a safe, fun place to be and it is up to our administrators and students to keep it that way. As long as we give it our all, there is nothing to fear.
