Christian students across the world participated in See You at the Pole, a student led prayer event for their school and country at their school’s flagpole on Wednesday, September 28. See You at the Pole started in the United States in 1990. The event started in Burleson, Texas with a local youth group going around and praying at local schools. The event spread through out the United States and globally, including Australia and Canada during following years. THS has been participating for three years now. THS students met at 8 am to participate in See You at the Pole. Seventy students attended. “Gather. Pray. Unite. Come together,” the motto for See You at the Pole, describes the proceedings the event has. “The biggest difference I have seen from See You at the Pole is unity amongst followers of Jesus,” said senior Mallory Carey. THS has expanded the event to every Wednesday at 8am for prayer and Bible study at both lunches. Ten people attend daily according to Lara Searcy, English teacher and event sponsor. Lacy Moon held a meeting to begin planning for the event. From this meeting FCA forms a few weeks later. FCA is its own organization, but sponsors See You at the Pole. See You at the Pole is an event with a mission. Searcy has her own belief for the mission of See You at the Pole. “[My mission for See You at the Pole] is to meet as followers of Christ,” said Searcy. Bible study and prayer through See You at the Pole includes all denominations of Chiristians. “We look past denomination and focus on the thing that brings us together- Jesus,” said Carey.
