Mr. Patrick Custer to retire after 32 years of coaching

Mr. Patrick Custer, C.V. class of 1966, stands on the sideline of a varsity boys soccer game. Coach Custer is a familiar sight on campus during the school day on the sidelines whenever and wherever Arab athletes are competing.

Q: What year did you graduate from C.V? A: 1966 Q: What is the most memorable moment you had as a student athlete here at C.V? A: 1964 CIF champion- football 11 wins 0 losses Q: What jobs did you have before coming to C.V? A: Harvest supervisor- table grapes Q: After you graduated what made you come back and work here? A: Connections & friends Q: How long have you been working here for? A: 32 years coaching and 25 years full time Q: What jobs have you done here at C.V? A: Athletic equipment monitor, security and club advisor Q: What sports have you coached here at C.V? A: Football 32 years, track 3 years Q: How have things changed since you first started working here? A: More students, better equipment and facilities Q: What is one of the most memorable moments here at C.V? A: CIF championships in soccer, 2004 and 2007 and the league champships in football, 1977 & 1978 Q: Was every year the same or was it different? And why? A: Some years were similar, but most were different- different people Q: What are you going to miss about C.V? A: Many staff & faculty I have worked with. Q: What do you plan on doing after retirement? A: Not much--camping, fishing, golf, movies, TV, travel, swimming, hiking, etc.
