			<title><![CDATA[Fairfax&#8217;s Performers Show Off Their Talents]]></title>

The event was held on Friday, May 29 at the outdoor stage.   Fifteen acts played starting with The Fairfax Cheer Team, then Tevin Douglas a.k.a “Nucleus”, Pilots and Paper Planes, Raw Rabbit, Fairfax B-boys,Michael Kang, Emilia Maysonet, Kourtney Chapman, Fairfax Color Guard, Samuel Itzkano, Lee and Kim, Oye Guey, R D, Alex Henriguez, and Street Chaos. Some acts like Oye Guey, Street Chaos, and Nucleus had crowd participating enthusiastically by skanking, slam dancing, and chanting song lyrics.  Contestants competed for the First Place Prize of $300. Second pPlace Prize was $150 and Third Place earned $50. Even students who didn’t win the money still had the chance to represent Fairfax in a district wide competition at UCLA on June 6. The top acts will be put in one of these five categories, spoken word, rap, musician, cheer/dance, and song.  The first place winner was Michael Kang. Second Place went to Ska band “Oye Guey” and the  Third Place Wiiner was poet Kourtney Chapman.   In addition to the winners, Richard Evans and Andre Winn for rap and song, and Fairfax’s Cheer team and Color Guard are going to the Finals at UCLA. Adriana Almazan.   Program Director of LACER said, “I thought it was amazing! I was worried nobody would show up because people were worried that it was going to rain but the turn out was really great.” She received e-mails from Fairfax staff saying how great the show was, and every one was so confident in their talents. Adriana hopes that’s students will support “Fairfax Got Talent” and help make it become an annual event.   ]]></description>
