$0The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA) performed in therefurnished Auditorium on June 11. The event lasted from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Itfirst began with a performance by the Orchestra, which was conducted by bandinstructor Ray Vizcarra. This was the second time the GMCLA performed atFairfax this year. Next year, the GMCLA will have members assist with teachingthe choir class.$0$0The show began with Pierce Platestalking to the audience about how, through many generous contributions andgrants, the auditorium was refurnished. The   CONTACT _Con-3A7852AE1 \c \s \l Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) was complimented with“LAUSD, you did it right,” from Plates.$0$0             AfterPlates finished, the Fairfax Orchestra, conducted by Vizcarra, performed threepieces. The orchestra was then followed up by the Marching Band, which gave anenergetic performance of pieces from King Kong and Wicked . Plates thenreturned on stage and talked about how Fairfax did not have a band for manyyears, yet won the city championship in it’s first year back. Finally, SergioGarcia, Fairfax’s Prom Queen for 2009, came onstage and introduced the GMCLA. $0$0             TheGMCLA was greeted with a roaring ovation as they began with their first. Thesongs ranged love to heartbreak to life in general. The GMCLA performed thefirst half of their upcoming show Broadway: Gay Men Singing Show Tunes.Imagine That. , which will be coming outthis summer. As the GMCLA finished their final song, the audience showed theirappreciation and respect to them with a deafing applause. Afterwards,refreshments were provided in the rotunda. $0$0             TheGMCLA is the largest male chorus in southern California. It was founded in 1977by a group of 99 gay men. They were the first gay men’s chorus to perform for asitting president, who at the time was Bill Clinton.
