California upholds Prop.8

http://my.hsj.org/schools/newspaper/tabid/100/view/frontpage/schoolid/754/articleid/286097/california_upholds_prop8.aspx

By By Aaron Sayago

The California Supreme Court has upheld its 6-1 ruling in favor of Prop 8. However, same sex marriages that occurred before Prop 8 was passed are still valid.
Last November, Proposition 8, which banned same sex marriages in California, was passed.narrowly by voters
Pro and anti same sex marriage advocates will soon come to a head at this mid point in their legal battle. On one hand, opponents of same sex marriage have won a decisive victory. Prop. 8 supports managed to convince enough voters that if Prop 8 was not passed, same sex marriage would be taught in public schools On the other hand, advocates of same sex marriage were relieved to know that marriages made before Prop 8 was passed still exist.
Prop 8 supporters are wasting their time. Yes, they managed to get Prop 8 passed, but they failed in their essential goal in completely banning gay marriage in California, as there are sill legal same sex marriages that exist. Californians have realized that the Prop 8 supporters lied to them (yes, lied) and will strike back with a vengeance in the 2010 elections. Over 20,000 people held a five-hour march in protest of the California Supreme Court’s upholding of Prop Who is to say that they can’t do the same and defeat the hate Prop 8 come the 2010 elections
Infamous leaders use fear to terrify their people into doing their selfish bidding. In the 2008 elections, the supporters of Prop 8 used the same tactics and were successful in taking away essential rights from same sex couples. In the 2010 elections, do not let it happen again.
