By Nicole Bansen

The Lindenhurst Boys Tennis Team is working their way through the Spring 2008 season. Coach Bonanduci, hopes they will be successful in the next part of their season. In their fourth dedicated year on the team, Seniors Alex Bessarabov and Jon Gonzales have taken the initiative and shown true leadership skills as this season’s captains. Coach Bonanduci believes that the captains have been stepping up during practice and helping the other team members improve. This year’s team is a solid group that respects each other. Bonanduci has confidence in her team and hopes they will prove themselves soon to be worthy competition. The players have “much more depth [than other teams], in that they can play both singles and doubles matches” whenever the situation might require their skills. Bonanduci goes on to say that this year’s team is “one of the better teams of the last few years,” showcasing their skill and positive attitudes. The athletes have many challenges in front of them while on the court. They cannot be coached mid-game, but rather only before or after matches. The individual is fighting with their skills, as well as their mentality. Coach Bonanduci stands by her advice, saying that, “They need to keep their heads in the game in order to succeed.” Junior Dylan Swift says, “…we have an awesome team this year.” The team has succeeded in defeating Central Islip in March and shutting out Babylon at home on April 3 with a team score of 7-0. Already half way into their spring season, the Lindenhurst Boys Tennis team looks forward to a continuing season as they move on to face-off at home against Central Islip on April 15, West Babylon on April 28 and North Babylon on May 2.
