By Caitlin Rogers

With spring right around the corner, it’s a sure sign that the Mitchell girls’ soccer team is just about to start their season. After last season, which had some struggles, the team is very excited to start off a new season. According to sophomore Maddie Francis, the team’s goals are pretty simple this year: to just improve upon last season. “We just want a better season than last year,” she said. “The games this year are important.” Like most sports teams that have to deal with turnover due to graduation, the Mitchell girls’ soccer team isn’t any different. One of the biggest obstacles that the team will face is having to succeed without a clearly defined goalie. In addition, playing together and getting along will help the team improve on last year and help exceed this season’s expectations, as well as playing more offensively. The girls will be taking the field for the first time this season on March 6 against Harrison at Garry Berry Stadium, while also participating in the Mesa Ridge Tournament on March 7 and 8. Make sure to mark your calendars, Mitchell will be playing Wasson on April 25, something that many Marauders will be looking forward to. This will definitely be a season to follow, as the girls’ soccer team will be coming out to play their best and try to develop their performance from last season. Judging by all the preseason workouts and how seriously the players are taking this season, they will without a doubt meet their goals, as well as be an exciting team to watch .So make sure to support Mitchell girls’ soccer by attending the games this season.
