Last Friday night at Westland John Glenn High School, there was a crazy ending to their Homecoming football game. With time winding down in the fourth quarter, the Rockets send out there kicking squad for a field goal attempt, long story short; the attempt was blocked by a Plymouth defensive player just as it was leaving the kickers foot, the ball never crossed the line of scrimage, therefore it was still in play. There was only one player on the field who realized the situation so as the other players from both teams left the field, he picked up the football and ran it back for the winning touchdown. After the game is where my issue lies. As reported yesterday the head coach of the John Glenn Rockets, and the player who scored the touchdown appeared on ESPN's First Take, the coach said that after the game had ended the Head Coach of the Plymouth Wildcats said that the Rockets should not have won the game and should not be proud that they won.
Personally I think that the win is legitimate and that it was an amazing play. On the part of the Plymouth coach, that is bad sportsmanship. As a coach you should be ashamed because you are setting an example for the players on your team and the students who see you on a daily basis, and that is not a good example of sportsmanship.
