Dear Cougars, The first issue of “The Cougar” is done! The entire staff is extremely excited to portray the voice of you - the student body. I can't tell you how hard the staff has been working on the paper these past few weeks and how determined each and every one of us is to bring the news of the school and world to light. “The Cougar” staff, is here to represent the voice of the common student. It is our duty to inform the Escondido High School campus about relevant events, people and issues in the surrounding community in an interesting and youthful way. Our newspaper is a means of understanding school-life from a student's perspective. It is our job to follow journalistic ethics and guidelines to create and distribute an unbiased, informational, creative and overall great newspaper, that not only does its job, but does it well. The newspaper serves as a forum for student expression, and as students, you should all be exercising your First Amendment rights: freedom of speech! What issue do you feel you need to speak out about? Is there something you need help getting attention to? Through our newspaper, a simple opinion, request for a story or simple comment can get the help you may need. You are who and what we write about and we need your input in order to improve our issue each time! Feel free to write about any issue that you need or want covered or if you agree or disagree with an issue that has already been covered. As a class, team and staff, the one thing we ask from our readers is feedback. All feedback is good feedback, so please do not be afraid to voice your opinions and write us a letter!
Thanks Cougars! Tommy Terrazas
