This spring is going to be a concert-packed season for music lovers. There will be something from every genres. Look out for these concerts in Raleigh and Greensboro from March to May.
Ben Folds is a piano rock extraordinaire who has been rocking shows in Raleigh for four years. He will continue the tradition on March 25 at the Meyandi Hall. He is known for his top hits “Landed” and “Rocking the Suburbs.” His signature impromptu “Rock This” songs always keep the crowd on their feet.
“I’m stoked for the Ben Folds concert. His song “Hiroshima” always makes me laugh,” said Chris Lee, sophomore.
John Mayer will be making a stop at the Greensboro Coliseum March 15 in his much anticipated “Battle Studies” tour. After his new album of the same name topped the charts in December, Mayer will be sure to draw in a large crowd. Fans will gather around to listen to John Mayer’s bluesy rock music.
“I love John Mayor’s passionate music and his stylistic folky flair. It’d be amazing to see him in concert,” said Matt Carter, senior.
The two-time double platinum heavy rock band, Three Days Grace, will be performing April 10 at the RBC Center. The band will be playing hits from their old albums such as “I Hate Everything About You” and “Animal I Have Become,” as well as some songs off their new album “Life Starts Now.”
“I went last year to Three Days Grace and it was the loudest experience of my life. I almost felt like a real rocker,” said Jordan Glickman, freshman.
It is hard to turn on the radio without hearing a song from the popular alternative rock band Nickelback. From their 2001 start with the radio smash “How You Remind Me,” Nickelback has grown to produce countless top singles throughout their career including songs such as “Savin’ Me,” “Someday,” and “Far Away.” The show, scheduled April 17 at the Greensboro Coliseum, is much anticipated because of the catchy guitar riffs and honest lyrics will make for a fun and spirited show.
“I’m about to preorder my tickets. Nickelback is my favorite band ever and I heard they were even better in concert,” said Eric Pantlin, sophomore.
Derek Vincent Smith, the man also known as Pretty Lights, will be back in Raleigh with his electronic dance music March 31 at the Lincoln Theatre. Pretty Lights is gaining popularity for the mashing and sampling of different beats and vocals to create psychedelic music. The result is a fusion of techno, electro and rap music.
“That song ‘How We Do’ by Pretty Lights is sick. It’s so cool how they mix crazy beats with 50 Cent lyrics. That concert is going to be off the hook,” said Corey Jenkins, junior.
Rap fans will be included in this spring’s concert line up. Kid Cudi will be in town to play a show at Duke University April 1 along with rapper Pharell’s rap group N.E.R.D. Kid Cudi is a new-age rapper who clinched his fame last year with his hit single “Day N Nite.” From then on his fame has only gotten bigger. Kid Cudi performing with Pharell and N.E.R.D will be a memorable concert for rap fans in the Triangle.
“I’m so pumped for the Kid Cudi concert because his rhymes are so sick and his beats are crazy,” said Leah Nobles, senior.
Concert turnout is expected to be high, so get your tickets as soon as possible. All tickets can be bought on Ticketmaster.com. Be sure to get them before they run out.
