(June 11, 1999) -- Who are the students collecting donations for the mentally challenged?  Who are the students who devote their spare time to help out the community?  What is behind all the helpful and smiling faces of Clark Magnet High School?

The answer to all this is Key Club.  Key Club has had a very successful year helping out our community through collecting donations for the mentally challenged, decorating the Rose Float, and more.

“It was a lot of hard work but it was worth the effort because I had a chance to participate in something that I had always dreamed of working on,” said a Key Club member.

Key Club is a national program made to help out the community through high school students who volunteer their service to various projects.

In its first year of experience, the Key Club was faced with many obstacles.  “There is always room for improvement.  It was difficult organizing activities because there are so many students and no adults,” said Mrs. Marcucci, the club advisor.

Though they faced difficulties when organizing the activities, the results were always successful.  Key Club had activities such as the Glendale Adventist Medical Center donation fund, Rose Float decoration, tea party, Hurricane Harbor, and the convention.

This year’s program was a great challenge for the club because it was the first club to enter Clark Magnet High School.  There were some difficulties getting the program started.  All in all, the program turned out to be a great success.  Key Club has learned from the mistakes made this year and hopes to receive more support next year.

Though Key Club had a beach clean up planned, there were not enough people to allow the club to actually go to the activity because there was a lack of students who signed up for it.

“I had a very enjoyable time with friends,” said Violeta Yebeyan, a Key Club member who went on the field trip to Hurricane Harbor.
