Roseville High School science teacher, CJ Addington, has added a new animal to his physics classroom. A group of students saw a baby squirrel running around behind the 700 wing, which Addington caught and will take care of until it is fully grown.

“It was really easy to catch,” said Addington. “All I had to use was a butterfly net. I want to take care of it until it’s a full grown squirrel and ready to go back in its habitat.”

According to Addington, the administration did not have any disputes about having the squirrel.

“It is too young of a squirrel to be carrying anything, so I didn’t have to vaccinate it or anything like that,” said Addington.

Addington cares for the squirrel by keeping it warm and healthy, feeding it rat biscuits, and keeping it in a rat cage.

“The cost of rat biscuits come out of my pocket, but it’s not a big deal at all,” said Addington.

Students find having a squirrel in the classroom interesting. Junior Stephen Allwein is fond of having it as a class pet.

“It’s cool to have a squirrel that freaks out at random points of class,” said Allwein.
