Nearby a place plagued with tragedy that remains in the hearts of many Americans as a memorial, Muslims desire to build a mosque. They desire to worship in the way that they see fit, the reason for the establishment of this country in the beginning. Nevertheless, Americans oppose this construction, perceiving it as a threat.

Is it a threat because individuals of the same faith that did the attack on September 11 have rights in our country? Well, the individual kills, not the religion. If we were to keep religions out of the country that have among them killers professing belief, this country would have no religion. Yes, every religion thinkable has members of the faith that are murderers, even Christianity. Killers exist among individuals without religious convictions as well. Therefore, for the existence of this country, people of all religious convictions must be citizens in this country. Since the constitution guarantees everyone religious freedom, the mosque by law is allowable and prohibiting its construction is, in fact, a violation of the constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion to all citizens regardless of race or beliefs.

For those who do not have this deterrent to the Muslim faith, the location of the mosque might be the downturn. However, there was a Catholic church there, and everyone was okay with that. What’s the difference between a mosque and Catholic Church?

While people sit in protest, they fail to recognize their hypocrisy. Is burning the Bible acceptable? How about the Quran? Is the Quaran not their sacred text? One minister plans to burn Qurans in protest. How can anyone be scared when they are doing some offensive of their own?

A mosque near ground zero what’s the big deal? Individuals not the whole Islam religion are responsible have the 9/11 attack. In addition, law says the mosque near ground zero cannot be prohibited. For these reasons, don’t be a protestor; support them as they try to use their rights.
