Sitting in Diane Tucek’s or Tom Shelley’s classroom, student’s ears are punctured by the sounds of saws, power drills, continuous hammering, and other obnoxious noise. The reason for this tumult is because workers are installing a new and improved elevator.
“The elevator is going to be available to ADA (American Disabilities Act) students, visitors, and wheelchair-bound students,” Principal Joseph Schmimmel said. “This shouldn’t affect students with lockers in the upper west hallway because they will also being installing a new entrance.” Schmimmel said.
The question is, “how is Bloom Trail paying for this? And how much does it cost?” “The total cost of this installation is about $800,000, Schmimmel said. “Bloom Trail is not paying for this. The federal government gave Bloom and Bloom Trail stimulus money to fund the elevator.”
“Bloom is getting two elevators because originally they only had freight elevators.” Stockwell said. “I expect this elevator to run more efficiently.” Assistant Principal, Percell Reed said. “The elevator is expected to be up and running a little after the semester.”
