Director David Yates excites your imagination and stimulates the adrenaline in the seventh installment of the Harry Potter movies.
The three familiar protagonists Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) are joined by a collage of cast members from all of the series in a riveting quest to find and destroy the Horcrux (dark magical object).
Grint adds humor with his naïve way of handling romance and raw, sincere emotions. It should come to no surprise that again Watson portrays the cleverness of her character so well it’s hard to tell where Hermione ends and Emma begins.
Their relationship quirks such as Ron’s jealousy and protectiveness add the comic relief needed to get through the intensity of the movie’s more serious parts. Radcliffe is the usual Potter rushing to help his friends and needing their saving in the end.
By far though, my favorite character is Dobby. His hilarious directness and tendency to blurt out exactly what he feels makes him one of the most relatable characters; he also won the most laughs from the audience.
Overall this adventure, fantasy film is exactly what it promises. Our cast of favorite characters is so deeply involved in the Harry Potter realm it’s hard to believe they’re really just ordinary (rich) muggles. The enterprise keeps its promise with the best one so far, coming so far from the 11-year-old trio we knew, you can feel how far they’ve come.
