My original plan for this issue was to write an article including recipes for the best christmas cookies. I was planning on baking a few recipes, bringing in samples for the class, and having them vote for their favorite cookie. Unfortunately, I did not learn my classes favorite cookie and learned that I lack talent in the kitchen. I attempted to bake the most basic cookies. First, I mixed the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies. Second, I mixed the ingredients for sugar cookies. Third, I mixed the ingredients for rice crispy treats. The batters of the chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies tasted as good as any other batter. Nothing seemed wrong, but after taking them out of the oven, they were far from perfect. The chocolate chip cookies turned out to be very flat chocolate chip pancakes and the sugar cookies needed a lot more sugar, and anything else that would give them some kind of flavor. These two cookies were not presentable for my class so I wanted to make the easiest thing I know how to make. Rice crispy treats seemed to be a good idea. I began to melt the marshmallows, but they would not melt. They eventually burned and to avoid wasting all the marshmellows I added the cereal anyway hoping for the best. I ended up with rice crispy cereal terribly mixed with burnt marshmallows, flat chocolate chip cookies, and bland sugar cookies. Although I did not gather a decision from my classmates, I did conclude that the safest cookies for the holiday season are the ready to bake cookies found in the refridgerated section!
