Iwako Erasers are a growing trend in the middle school. They are fun little erasers that are cute and small, yet very useful. They come in many shapes and colors.  They are also recyclable and biodegradable, which makes them better for our environment.
The erasers come in various shapes, like animals. There are horses, hamsters, koalas, giraffes, and so much more. There are also food-shaped erasers, such as bento boxes, cupcakes, eggs, and sandwiches. Also, there are garden erasers, such as flowers, carrots, cherries, and watering cans. Sixth grade student Hannah Berke said, “My favorite eraser is my mouse.” There are so many different types of erasers that it is hard to keep track of how many different types of erasers there are.
Iwako Erasers generally cost about one dollar each, but depending on the type and rarity of them, they can cost a bit more, sometimes up to six dollars. One place to purchase Iwako Erasers is Alphabet Moon in Davis, CA. Another place is Sausalito Ferry Company in Sausalito, CA, which also has a website: sausalitoferry.com.
Iwako Erasers are made by putting materials into a mold. The molds are heated and after a while, the erasers come out and are in special colors. Then pieces of the eraser are put together to form a certain shape. For example, a cake eraser has several parts, such as the frosting, strawberries on top, and the actual cake. Then the erasers are shipped out to stores all over the world.
Lots of students in the middle school collect these erasers. Sixth grade student Armand Cataldo said, “I don’t have many, but I do own a hamburger, french fries, and ice cream. My favorite eraser is the hamburger one!”
Sixth grade student Jasmine Anderson said, “I usually purchase erasers from the Dollar Store. My favorite erasers are the peace erasers.”
Sixth grade student Ani Carerra doesn’t have any, but she said, “I have heard of Iwako Erasers and I want to collect them.”
