National Day of Praye

The Obama administration wants to fight to preserve National Prayer Day. Praying has become a major role for American leaders. People seek strength, hope, and inspiration in prayer. On this day, we should be thankful for the many freedoms our country has given us. The freedom of religion and worship that allows many people to follow whatever faith they believe in.

Obama says we should give this day our time, and pray for men and woman of Armed Forces who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom and safety. We should pray for their safety as well. We should pray for those who put their lives at risk everyday to protect others. Police officers, firefighters, soldiers, and anyone else who works to protect our communities and put their lives at risk deserves this day to be thought of. Those who have been died or have been affected by natural disasters our country has face should be in our thoughts.

Obama wants us to take the time to remember this day, and pray for those who deserve our prayers.

The Congress, by Public law, has amended the first Thursday of every May, National Prayer Day. Therefore, Barack Obama, president of the United States, proclaims May 5th, 2011. Prayer Day.

Although Obama is right about his speech, that soldiers and workers who put their life at risk everyday, deserve the many prayers needed, but is it right for our public schools to abide by the laws to allow religion in school? Although this day goes against religion in the government, and decisions based off of religion, are we making the right decision to make this day national?

I agree we should allow at least one day dedicated to prayer. We should be allowed to gather together in prayer, awkward or not, but to just pray for everything we are thankful for and for everything our country and citizens have done for us. Although this does abide by our laws, Obama is right, our people and country deserves our prayers. What do you think? Do you agree with Obama’s decisions? I guess you’ll just have to wait and see if our country actually gathers around together and pray, and join cultures.
