Taking the Natural Path Across America
Advertising

In the name of natural medicine and a healthier America, Cleveland alumnus Jeremiah Godby is running from San Francisco to New York City. Accompanied by his older brother Isaiah Godby, his cousin Jonas Ely, and his father Dr. Dennis Godby, he is trekking an average of 30 miles per day to finish a run that spans over the majority of the nation.

After being in the planning stages since 2009, the run began on July 7 and is planned to finish on Nov.11. The end of the run encompasses a symbolic leg to be run on Nov. 16 to Bridgeport, Connecticut to promote natural medicine on an even greater scale.

Now, with less than 50 days left, the family is thrilled with the success of the run. “The reception has been wonderful! We have talked to thousands of people by now in restaurants, coffee shops, in parking lots, in hotels, at universities, parks, and pretty much everywhere we have gone we meet people to talk to!” said Dr. Dennis Godby, who is an experienced road runner himself.

Cleveland alumnus Jeremiah Godby has crossed 1,800 miles of United States soil and when he finishes in New York, he will be the youngest person to do so since 1928. “Just one year ago, Jeremiah weighed 205 pounds, and in my medical opinion, I had serious concerns that he was heading to diabetes,” said Dr. Godby, Jeremiah’s father and planner of the trip. “His transformation has been unbelievable. He has dropped close to 40 pounds for the run and I feel that Cleveland High School had some role in that!”

A mission drives these four runners to continue on through the mental blocks and physical strain of miles upon miles of varied terrain. They are drawing attention to lifestyle changes and the utilization of natural medicines to optimize health. Each of the runners has witnessed the powerful properties of naturopathic techniques in various different ways and hopes that this event will draw attention to the issue and the cause.
