I hear people complaining, “Why are the campus securities are so hard on us?” Are campus monitors really that hard on us?

  Brian Nauta, a campus monitor at Franklin High School has a couple of responses about being hard on people. One of the reasons is for safety issues. Some of the safeties precautions are designed to protect student and staff from any harm. For example. he needs to observant to see if anyone is violating anything that might cause someone harm and then report it. Therefore if someone has a bag of weed, he and the other campus monitors need to report that violation to the administrators.   This helps the school to be drug free.

 Nauta also said part of his job is to insure that students are protected from harm from outsiders. “This is an important priority for a campus monitor to not let anyone who are not from Franklin high school to come in are campus,” said Nauta. The reason for this is because what if they would want to pull a student out of class and beat them up. Security monitor cannot allow that to happen. That is one of the reasons why visitors need a visitor pass from the front office, so they could be verified for their reason being on campus

 “Last year there was nine security monitors and now there are five monitors,” said Nauta.  This has made his job more difficult and challenging. However, if he is not strict with the teenagers here at Franklin, he could get fired. Because of this, I think they should have more monitors, so they won’t have to be so strict especially if we get to class couple minutes late to class.
