The first thing people do when they receive their yearbook is flip through the pages looking for pictures of themselves. Now, students will not only be on the lookout for pictures of themselves, but pictures they took, as well!
The Fallston High School yearbook staff will now be holding photo contests in which students will be able to submit pictures in a variety of ways with the chance to have their photograph in the yearbook.
Each contest will have a different, specific theme for all entries and will be held periodically throughout the year.
The yearbook staff and Mr. Saja, the yearbook supervisor, will judge all of the entries, and the winner of each contest will receive a free yearbook.
Mr. Saja is very excited about the opportunity for students to be featured in the yearbook in a brand new and exciting way.
“With this being the first time we have ever done something like this, we were very pleased with the amount of photos that were submitted in this first contest,” said Mr. Saja.
The first photo contest was held during September with the theme for the contest being “What I did this summer.” Senior Katie Lazzeri submitted the winning photo, an artistically crafted shot of Maggie Clough and herself reflected in the lens of a pair of purple sunglasses.
The yearbook staff would love to continue with photo contests all throughout the school year, but they need students’ help.
“I would love to have a few more contests this year,” said Mr. Saja, “but it all depends on how much participation we can get from the students.”
Look for chances to enter the photo contests throughout the year. Photos can be submitted by either turning them in to Mr. Saja directly or by uploading them to the Facebook group “Fallston Yearbook 2012.”
