Tim Marshall studying biology before the test!!! - Lauren Cutter
Students here at Greenwood Christian have many ways of studying for their tests and quizzes. Some students just do the old fashioned note cards, and others have made their own ways of remembering the material that is needed.
Heather Hembree, a sophomore here at Greenwood Christian, is known for having great grades, even though she plays multiple sports. Hembree is always studying when she has extra time.
Hembree is known for using her study cards.
“Study cards are pretty much the only thing I use to study,” said Hembree
Others have very different ways to study. Mr. Richter, the high school Bible teacher, had some strange study habits as a teen.
Richter said that when he was younger he would make songs that would go with the thing he was learning. If he had to remember a Bible verse, he would take the words of the verse and make them into a song that he could remember. Most of the time this would work.
Tim Marshall is a freshman here at Greenwood Christian. His dad is a middle school teacher. So does this have an effect of him?
Tim Marshall said that “he doesn’t really study much.”
But you know when a biology quiz or test is because Marshall will have his books out looking over the pages.
Marissa Duff, a junior here at Greenwood Christian, said she has some normal study habits but they seem to work for her…most of the time.
“I study 24/7. I study a lot,” said Duff
There are always the students who say “they don’t know how to study” or “they don’t know what to study”.
According to www.studygc.net you need to have your priorities in order. You can’t let others distract or interfere with your study time. If you don’t understand something don’t just reread it over and over, go ask someone for help.
Some students have the never ending question of what do they need to study.
The answer is simple. If the teacher went over it in class, it may just be a good idea to study it all.
In biology Marshall takes notes and tries to understand what Mr. Smith is saying even if he goes too fast. He sometimes gets lost but he always tries to get with the program.
In math this question seems to come up a lot too.
According to www.mathforum.org you need to ask lots of questions because the teacher is probably one of the most helpful subjects. You can just do lots of practice problems and try to understand things that way. You can even get another student to help you while you are having troubles understanding it.
The only problem with the last one is you need to make sure you get someone who understands math. If you have someone who doesn’t know math you may end up even more confused than the way you started.
According to www.mathforum.org it is also helpful to stay calm. Many people suffer from what they call “math anxiety”. When this happens the littlest things, like just thinking of math, gets you feeling uncomfortable and nervous.
If math gets you this way, just remember to stay calm. Even if you don’t know how to study, just ask your math teacher.
If you find yourself getting distracted easily there is a web site called StudyBuddy that will help you in learning all of your studies.
Some people cram for exams and tests. Some start studying the day of tests or quizzes and others don’t even study at all. This isn’t a good idea and you should just stay calm and make sure you study a few days before the test or quiz. If you need extra help always go to someone you can trust, not someone who is unreliable and may not know exactly what they are talking about.
