The Revere High School Varsity men’s wrestling team returns with three seniors and many upperclassmen to another season full of hard work and dedication.

Dan Mosher has been coaching wrestling for a total of eight years, spending three of those years as Revere High School’s head coach. The team’s leadership this year is the four seniors: Eric Roose, Kevin Crum, Justin Smith and Matt Peterson. The team looks to improve the junior wrestlers this season to have a well-developed team for the following years. In addition Mosher also seeks to improve each individual throughout the season.

"I always make it a goal to have each wrestler finish the season with better technique than when they began. It is also a goal for me to coach at least five district qualifiers and one state qualifier," Mosher said.

Junior Stephen Suglio hopes to earn a place in state competition this year. With a personal record of 24-2, Suglio expects to finish the rest of his season strong. He started wrestling six years ago in middle school and fell in love with the sport.

"I like wrestling because it is versatile. There are countless ways to win and tons of techniques to master. This allows you to develop your own sense of style," Suglio said.

Mosher always trains his team to work their hardest and to train for success. Aside from Mosher’s personal goals, he said the team has set several goals this season. Among these goals are finishing in the top four of the Suburban League and finish with over two hundred combined pins this season. Junior Dom Scianna says the team is working to reach these goals by their hard work in practice.

"In practice we run for twenty minutes. Then for the next hour and half we drill takedowns and other moves. Then we wrestle for about the next thirty minutes in live matches," Scianna said.

Scianna is currently 14-7 in his personal record. He started wrestling for Revere his freshman year in the 103 weight class and is currently wrestling in the 106 weight class.

"Our team this year is definitely the best Revere has had in a long time. No one slacks off, and we always try our best," Scianna said.

The team’s highlights include having a strong presentation at the Mike Lewis Medina Buckeye Invitation Tournament, taking fourth at the Canfield Holiday Duels, wins over Wooster and Hoban and taking second at the Bison Kickoff Classic with two individual champions of the day, Scianna and Suglio.

"The highlight of my season has been winning my first ever, first place medal at the Beachwood Tournament," Scianna said.

The Suburban League has supplied stiff competition for the team, but as the season continues they strive to improve their current record of 6-10. The team is working to finish strong and achieve their goals this season. The Minutemen will conclude their season at home on February 2
