Etta James, Rest In Peace
Music legend Etta James lost her battle with leukemia on the morning of January 20, 2012 in Riverside, CA. Many stars, old and young, have offered their condolences as well as memories of the singer. Though her last bouts in the media weren’t positive (i.e. bashing Beyonce’s performance of her in “Cadillac Records” and of her song at President Obama’s Inaugural Ball…), she will always be revered for being one of the first women to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and for her hits and that smooth and wonderful voice.
She was 73 years old.

Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis: Lack of Carpet
Though not much is known about Johnny Depp’s love life (as it should be regarding any private relationship, right?), rumors have been swirling of Depp’s thirteen-year relationship to partner Vanessa Paradis and what is now the start of their official separation. Reports have the couple separated for a while now as they have not been seen on the red carpet together for more than a year.
*sighs* Really? Is there a law that says a long-term relationship as a couple requires that you are always present at every red carpet? That’s the sign of a diminishing relationship, “sources”?
Either way, I do hope everything is going well, as the couple has two children together, Lily-Rose and Jack, and it’d be a shame to start of the year this way.

American Idol Falling Through the Cracks?
Before Simon Cowell’s US-version debut of the hit “X-Factor”, it was reported that the savvy mogul would consider his show a failure if it didn’t reach over 20 million viewers.
Well, it didn’t. And I have to say although I was psyched for a US version of the show (Hello? Leona Lewis?), I haven’t been tuning in. At Cowell’s former spot in the American Idol studios, producers have been jokingly saying the same regarding AI’s debut of the new season on January 20, 2012.
Though viewer ratings have been dropping, American Idol is fine despite all the negative publicity…
