Local fans of laser tag have always had limited places to play. Rocklin’s Laser Craze, set to open on February 3, aims to fix this.

Located at Blue Oaks Town Center 6694 Lonetree Blvd. Rocklin, Laser Craze has been advertised as the “most advanced laser tag 7,000 square foot multi-level arena.”

The business is family run by managers John and Susan Hughes. John Hughes’s brother currently operates two different locations in the Boston area. His model proved effective, so the same blueprints were used to build the Rocklin location.

The family has successfully run other Laser Craze’s across the nation. After continued success they decided to expand to northern California. Despite this, minimal resources are spent advertising.

“[Our] openings [are soft],” said Susan Hughes. “We just opened the doors and who came, came.”

Laser tag is the main attraction. A $15 membership card and signed wavier are mandatory.

“Our laser tag is done differently than most,” said Susan Hughes. “Each session includes four five-minute games which takes about 40 minutes to play.”

Up to forty-four players can play at one time.

The laser tag arena has two levels and features multiple ramps and “modes”. Modes change the settings of the arena. According to Susan Hughes, the modes will cause the arena to stay both exciting and interesting.

“Overall modes will be changed every few days or weeks for the public to be able to experience something new,” said Susan Hughes.

Laser Craze will additionally feature games for a younger audience, such as inflatable rides and large slides. There are a total of 40 games that reward players with tickets that can be exchanged for prizes.

“Our number one goal, for people coming in, is to make sure that each and every person is thoroughly entertained and feels like their investment was well worth it,” said John Hughes.
