“Collecting things is fun, you get a sense of accomplishment every time you add to [your collection],” said junior Adrian Do. A collection, according to Dictionary, is a group of objects or an amount of material accumulated in one location, especially for some purpose or as a result of some process.

The five most common collections are baseball cards, coins, stamps, action figures and movies according to fscollectibles. Many Holy Family students have a collection of some kind, ranging from your average stamp collection to some more unusual.

Do has two collections of seemingly everyday items, hats and money. “I wear a lot of hats and I kept getting more so it just turned into a collection. It wasn’t like I woke up one morning and decided to collect hats, it just happened,” Do said, “Money on the other hand I’ve been collecting since I was a kid, some people might call it just saving but I like to think of it as a collection.”

Junior Zach King has had quite a few collections; one of his most memorable was his beetle collection. “When I was little I used to collect beetles, it was a little weird but I mounted them and everything. It was really professional,” King said.

Now, King has moved onto collecting things very different from his past ones. He now collects snow globes. “I wouldn’t say I’m extremely passionate about collecting snow globes or anything like that. I got one from my aunt when she went on a trip to Europe and then people just kept giving them to me so it turned into a collection,” King said.

Sophomore Michaela Welham also has a collection. “Collecting bows is so fun, they come in so many colors and designs that you can never have enough,” Welham said.
