There are nearly 26 million people in America living with diabetes, and another 79 million people who are at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. The Fallston drama department is taking a step towards a cure.
Ms. Chambers and the Drama Club took a stand by selling t-shirts and raffle tickets to the students and faculty. Unfortunately, their goal of $1,000 was not reached yet this year at Fallston High School, so to boost donations, the club is selling t-shirts to the Fallston community at the Senior Night basketball game on February 17th.
“Since I have friends and know teachers that have diabetes, it makes me feel good to know that I’m helping them,” said Chris Hamlett.
Drama Club members Zach Huber, Grayson Karr, Chris Hamlett, Lauren Mosca, and Melissa Trapani donated their time and went around to English classes to help sell t-shirts, raffle tickets, and collect donations for a whole week.
“As a senior, it was my time to step up and take a stand,” Zach said in regards to the fundraiser.
The raffle prizes included an Anquan Boldin jersey, a Ravens mini helmet signed by Ray Rice, and a priceless photograph of the one and only Sizzle sacking Roethlisberger, autographed by Terrell Suggs himself. The winners were Mr. Hollingshead (jersey), Emily LaHatte (mini-helmet), and Kay-Lynn Baker (autographed photo).
