Staff Blogger Matt O. - Harman Studios
Thank you for visiting my blog Matt's Ag Connection; I am Matt O., a senior at Southern Door High School. The focus of this blog is agriculture and its future as well as germane current events. A member of the Southern Door FFA Chapter, my primary obligation is to educate the community at large of the role that agriculture plays in each of our lives. In 4-H, I encourage the development of children in the community through agricultural means. From the food you eat to the clothes you wear, agriculture is everywhere around you. People need to know that their food does not come from a grocery store but rather from a producer on a farm.

Possible blog topics include renewable energy, agriculture and social media, animal care ethics, and agricultural education in schools. Growing vegetables, raising animals, or studying the environment, agriculturists influence the way we live our lives. Right here at Southern Door, we are finding ways to become more self-sufficient in a world that will soon host more than 8 billion people. The world’s population expanding exponentially, the amount of food needed to feed this population grows as well. Predictions show that the twice the amount of food will need to be grown on the same amount of today’s arable land in 2050. Agriculture being a very broad topic, it has major significance in all of our lives because we all need to eat at the very least.
