My friend Ashley Duncan killed herself Monday. Although we weren't close, we hung around the same people.

Her smile could prove that she was innocent and happy, but who knew that she was

emotionally sick to the point where death was her cure?

Even though I disagree with how things happened, I know what it feels like to cry for help and have no one pay you any mind.

The saying "All that glitters isn't gold," fits this situation perfectly because here it is Ashley’s friends and family thinking she's a "golden child," when really she was blue under all that gold.

Her death should raise a lot of questions such as where'd she get the gun from?

Why did everyone ignore her tweets and tumblr posts?

It should also raise parent awareness on their kids' daily life.

Parents should ask questions or bond with their children to see if there is anything they can do to help.

This is just another case of the truth beneath a smile, a high school girl going through phases of life and not being able to handle the pressure from it.

May you Rest in Peace Ashley Duncan
