Illuminating the News for the Students By the Students

At-a-glance

With finals looming in the near future, there is only one thing on most seniors’ minds; high school graduation and leaving for college. This is a big time for these soon to be graduates and their families, and most people like to make a big deal out of this major accomplishment in their kids’ lives. Often, parents of the soon to be graduates will throw parties, inviting friends and extended family. These can range from small get-togethers to huge bashes at rented out clubhouses. My family in particular is going for more of the big party type idea. Everyone on both sides of my family is invited to attend, in addition to all my friends and their families. I will most likely get one of my favorite restaurants, such as Sahara, to cater the occasion.

Timing is one thing you have to work to get right for a graduation party. Although most people like having them the night of graduation or the following day, this might not be a very good idea. There will be too many parties for most students and their families to decide to go so attendance will be down. I am going to wait about half a week after graduation to have my party to ensure that most of the people I want to come will be able to make it.

Another type of party that is sure to happen is the night of graduation, when most groups of friends will get together and blow off some of the steam from their senior year. There are plenty of great ideas for these types of parties too. My friends and I will most likely all stay at a house for the night and reminisce the good times of high school.

It is sure to be a sad time for everyone, as a lot of people will be moving away for college, so have a good night and be as safe as you can with your festivities.
