The decision is made. The money is spent. The mug clunks the table. Your nose gets a treat. Your mouth is excited. Your taste buds say, “Mmm.”
This past Thursday, I paid a visit to the new coffee shop, Svago, in Dyer on Route 30. Right when I walked in, I knew it was my type of shop.
Soft music plays in the background as the delicious smell of fresh coffee meets the nose. A large menu is posted on the wall behind the cash register, and to the right is where people sit and eat.
All of the tables are decorated with candles and a large water fountain is in the center of the restaurant. A microphone and guitar are on a small stage tucked in the corner.
After choosing a place to sit, I took a look at the menu placed in front of me. It had a plethora of sandwiches and salads from which to choose.I chose a house salad with chicken. My companion picked the muffuletta sandwich.
On the other side of the menu is an array of different coffees. They provide lattés, espressos, frappuccinos, cappuccinos, steamers(steamed milk with flavor) and regular coffee. I selected a Snickers latté. My comrade chose a Milky Way latté.
After my food and coffee were given to me by our friendly server, I tried my salad. I’m not one for salad, but this was awesome. The chicken was very lean and tasty and the salad was fresh.
I had a bite of my cohort’s sandwich and it was equally as good. Then, we sipped our coffee. It was like a party started in my mouth and the guest of honor was coffee. It was , easily, the best latté I’ve ever had. My attendant’s wasn’t as good as mine, but it was still tasty.
My only complaint about Svago is the price. I thought my latté was a bit expensive at over $3. But every coffee shop is like that, I just have to suck it up, no pun intended.
Since my last visit to Svago, I’ve also tried a caramel frappuccino and a caramel steamer. The frappuccino was, to me, better than Starbucks, and the steamer wasn’t bad either. Svago has become my favorite coffee shop. So, if you ever happen to be traveling through Dyer, stop in at Svago for a salad and a delicious caffeine fix.
